Mount Airy Sets the Stage for Theater in 2010

Musical Revues to headline Gypsies Nightclub & Lounge

From love stories to comedies and every musical genre in between, Mount Airy Casino Resort will present its 2010 Matinee Theater Series beginning this February. All shows contain original scripts and live music featuring everything from classic show tunes to standard favorites and even modern pop.

"We see this as an off-Broadway meets Vegas type of theater series," explained Mount Airy Casino Resort entertainment director Sharon Kopin. "People love entertainment in all of its facets so we here at Mount Airy want to offer our customers the ability to enjoy all different types of shows in addition to our headliner concerts and bands."

Journeys: A Valentine Story will kick-off the season on Wednesday, Feb. 3rd. Tickets for all shows, which begin at 2:30 p.m., are $20. Just in time for Valentine's Day, this romantic comedy will take its audience on a journey of love thanks to such classics as "Unforgettable," "The Rose" and "To Where You Are" as the Queen of Hearts takes a journey to find her cupid. Journeys will also run Feb. 24th at 2:30 p.m.

In March, O'Malley's will provide an Irish flair for St. Patrick's Day as struggling Widow O'Malley must learn to overcome her old world views and gain faith in her son in order to keep her New York City pub in the family. This show includes more than 20 Irish favorites along with an audience participation sing-a-long. Shows run March 10 and March 21 at 2:30 p.m.

Then, the Sisters of Hoboken are at it again in Nuns On A Roll scheduled for March 24, 31 and April 7 at 2:30 p.m. When the Reverend Mother comes down with horrible allergies, the sisters decide to move to Las Vegas. The trouble begins when Sister Michael decides to play a slot machine.

In May, the high-energy BeeHive will take to the Mount Airy stage on May 12, 19 and 26 at 2:30 p.m. Features five wailing women, outrageous costumes and wigs, and 15 cans of hairspray a week, this '60s musical sensation traces the music of The Chiffons, The Supremes, Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin and includes "My Boyfriend's Back," "One Fine Day," "Where the Boys Are," "Proud Mary" and more.
