PARADISE TOWNSHIP—The progress report for Mount Airy Lodge shows good signs and signs yet to be determined.

The luxury hotel with attached casino that Dunmore businessman Louis DeNaples plans to build off Woodland Road, southeast of Mount Pocono, is going up fast.

What had been a shell of a structure around New Year’s Day looks more like a resort building every day. Project developers say Mount Airy Lodge will open in November, with 196 rooms in the hotel and about 2,500 slot machines in the casino.

Paradise Township supervisors recently approved revisions to Mount Airy’s land development plan—which supervisors approved last year—to allow the addition of a swimming pool and a new location for a proposed cluster of propane tanks.

Mount Airy officials have opened a job center in Scranton; anyone interested in working at Mount Airy Lodge can also apply online or at CareerLink in Tannersville.

“We have already received an overwhelming response from area residents interested in working at the new Mount Airy Resort and Casino,” said Dr. Lisa DeNaples, daughter of owner Louis DeNaples, in a statement issued last week.

As of that time, the company had already received more than 800 applications from people who want to work at Mount Airy, she said.
